For the third year in a row, the Golden Raiders are SD&G high school senior boys AAA soccer champs.

After 70 minutes of scoreless soccer -- including two, five-minute overtime sessions -- the Golden Raiders controlled the five-person penalty shot shootout, by scoring the first two goals, while the Panthers missed on each of their first two shots.

"They gave us a really good run for our money,'' Atwell said. "It was probably our toughest game all year -- we couldn't crack their defence.''

The Golden Raiders' top three snipers -- Kristian Quosdorf, Thomas Fontaine-Mellios and Christian Zimmer -- all were effectively grounded by the Panthers.

Cody Bourget got the regulation and overtime shutout for the Panthers, while goalie B.J. Al- Gahtani got the goose egg for the Golden Raiders.

The Golden Raiders scored on all four of their shootout shots, with Kyle Atwell, Fontaine- Mellios, Quosdorf and Kevin Poirier connecting.

The Golden Raiders play at the four-team triple-A EOSSAA event in Kingston.
