Food for Thought Snack Program
We have a snack bin in every Intermediate classroom as well as in Student Services, the Learning Commons, the Main Office and in Room 112! The Student Support Room in the Learning Commons offers yogurt, cheese sticks, hot oatmeal, cup-a-soup, and fresh bagels!
The Intermediate breakfast and snack bin programs are funded by the Student Nutrition Program which is funded through the Ministry of Children and Youth. As well, we have received funding through the Grocers Foundation and the Egg Farmers of Ontario.
The High School breakfast program has been completely funded through fundraising in the community. Funds have come from various sources such as; the Elizabeth Kelly Foundation, The Hub, The Civitan, the Lions Club, etc. Many community/local businesses have kept fundraising jars on their counters. We also receive donations from the staff at ADHS, who have participated in the Thunder Muffin program.
What is a Thunder Muffin you ask? It's a toasted English muffin with a fried egg and a slice of cheese! Thunder Muffins are available to students from 7:30 to 8:00 am each morning in front of room 121 as well as drinking boxes. This has been made available by a grant received from the Ministry of Children and Youth Student Nutrition Program and a donation from the Elizabeth Kelly Foundation.
The cooking of the Thunder Muffins is done by a dedicated crew of community volunteers including several local church members, parents and retired teachers. We couldn't pull this off without their continued support. Thank you so much!
