Indigenous Leadership (iLead) Days

Dr. Sean Lessard Indigenous students who are leaders in their school, their allies, and teachers of Native Studies courses meet four times per year. Dr. Sean Lessard, Jaime Koebel, and Daniel Richer have been keynote speakers this year.

Dr. Lessard told the story of the Red Worn Runners and empowered our students to be leaders.

Jaime KoebelKoebel taught the students about Métis culture and shared her fish scale, cariboo hair, beading and birch bark biting artworks.

The students have learned about Métis Finger Weaving, and have made some finger weaving bracelets.

Motivational speaker Richer shared traditional Indigenous stories with students and held a day-long workshop in which students built traditional Indigenous talking sticks, used in sharing circles to define who is speaking.
