Early Learning Program (ELP)
- The Early Learning Program (ELP) as confirmed by the Ministry of Education will be offered during the regular school day.
- ELP offers full-time learning during the core school day for 4 and 5 year olds at no cost to parents.
- ELP classes will be staffed with a teacher and an early childhood educator
- ELP classes will be staffed at a 13:1 (child to adult) ratio.
- Teachers and early childhood educators will work as partners to plan and deliver a high-quality, play-based program. Working side by side, these educators will create a welcoming environment where each child can learn, grow, and feel valued every day.
- Parents will have the option to enrol their child in a fee-based extended day (before and after school) program delivered by early childhood educators (if there is sufficient demand to offer the program at the school).
- Children who live in the school boundaries for ELP sites will be given first priority if there are space constraints.
-
Transportation is provided to students living within the designated school boundary.
Ready 2 Learn (R2L)
In order to provide more 4 and 5 year olds in our communities with the opportunity to participate in full-time learning, the Upper Canada District School Board has developed a Ready 2 Learn program.
- The R2L program is a play-based program designed to compliment the traditional alternate day JK/SK program. Children that enrol in the R2L program will attend JK/SK on alternate days and the R2L program on the other days at no cost to parents.
- The JK/SK program will be delivered by a teacher. The R2L program will be delivered by an early childhood education partner.
- Parents will have the option to enrol their child in a fee-based before and after school program delivered by early childhood educators (if there is sufficient demand to offer the program at the school).
- Children who live in the school boundaries for designated schools will be given first priority if there are space constraints.
-
Transportation is provided to students living within the designated school boundary.
