In April 2009, the Upper Canada District School Board, along with the 8 other school boards in the Champlain region and local health partners, signed the Champlain Declaration. The Champlain Declaration: Healthy Schools 2020 initiative confirms our commitment to creating healthy school environments so that school-aged children can be physically active and can make healthy food choices at school on a daily basis.

Healthy Schools 2020 is the Champlain Declaration in action! This year, all school boards who signed the Champlain Declaration have agreed to focus on healthy nutrition environments with a specific focus on:

1. Healthy lunch programs and food service contracts;
2. Healthy fundraising; and,
3. Healthy classroom rewards.
