(Brockville) - Nominations for the 2017 Trustee Innovation Award open December 1, 2016. The program offers the opportunity to nominate a deserving UCDSB employee for innovative work practices that make our students and our system better. The award is given each year to recognize individual excellence and innovation in the workplace and to inspire others to think outside the box and find new ways to better serve our system and move our students forward.

Past winners have included: an artistic custodian who painted a wall in a calming room to help students relax and regroup; a secondary teacher who created an innovative Makerspace area so students could grow and develop skills through robotics, 3D printing and other specialized learning; and a science teacher who creates a chemistry and physics "playground" for his students through unique experiments in his lab.

Nominations are open until May 30, 2017. Winners will be chosen by the selection committee in the late spring, and announced in September, a week before the second board meeting of the new school year, when the awards will be presented.
