Public Consultation on Pupil Accommodation Review Policies

Through a variety of presentations in the recent past, the UCDSB has emphasised that it has no intentions to engage in the closure of any of its school sites beyond the decisions reached in March 2017, through its comprehensive accommodation review process which sought to address the needs of the school district for the next decade.

With the update of the provincial guidelines in 2018 that guides and directs the process for holding pupil accommodation reviews in all districts in Ontario, the UCDSB  is required to update its policy to reflect changes to the provincial guidelines and to ensure that essential content is emphasised in the board’s policy.

The Ministry of Education’s 2018 guidelines also requires that “school boards are required to consult with local communities prior to adopting or subsequently amending their pupil accommodation review policies”.  In accordance with this requirement, a draft of Policy 413 – School Closures is attached for review and comment. P413_School Closures_DRAFT B_26October 2020_Public Consultation.pdf

Members of the public are invited to comment in writing, on this draft during the period of 30 October 2020 and 30 November 2020 on the proposed changes to Policy 413.  Please direct your comments and/or recommendations to Ms. Lisa Workman, Trustee Liaison Officer at as well, written comments or recommendations can be received by Canada Post at the following address:
