Summer Learning Options

Within the UCDSB, there are two summer learning paths for UCDSB students. There is the Summer Learning Program, which is for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students to enhance their literacy and math skills, and there is the Summer Semester Program, which is eLearning initiatives for Grade 7-12 students to reach ahead or earn diploma credits over the summer.

Reach Ahead Online Program

Students in Grade 7-12 have the opportunity to take part in the  Summer Semester Reach Ahead Secondary Credit Program, operated by the TR Leger School of Adult, Alternative and Continuing Education. The program offers Grade 9-12 online credit courses that students can work on anytime and anywhere they have access to the internet, earning themselves a NEW credit over the month of July. Full information about the program can be found here.

Credit Upgrade Program

Students in Grade 9-12 can also attempt to increase their passing grade for some specific courses in the Credit Upgrade Program Online. Contact your UCDSB guidance teacher for more information. Full information about the program can be found here.

Credit Recovery Program

Students in Grade 9-12 can participate in obtaining a credit in a course they were previously unsuccessful in during the last two years through the Credit Recovery Program. Contact your UCDSB guidance teacher for more information.  Full information about the program can be found here.

Summer Semester Secondary School Co-op

The Secondary School co-op program runs from June 29 to August 5 and is available to UCDSB students only.  Co-op courses are available in ENGLISH ONLY. Secondary Students can earn a maximum of two co-op credits. Some placements may also be eligible for accreditation with OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.) Full information about the program can be found here.

Summer Semester Cadet Co-op 

Cadet Co-op starts on July 10, 2023. 

This program is run in conjunction with the regional Cadet organization. Students who are also cadets can earn diploma credits over the summer.
