October 10, 2017 (Brockville, ON) –
Schools across the Upper
Canada District School Board have
raised approximately $70,000 through Terry Fox School Runs held over the past
two weeks, with fundraising efforts continuing.
“Once again our schools have come
through for Terry,” said Superintendent David Coombs. “It’s great to see that
our students remain committed to raising funds for cancer research and showing
empathy to those struggling with this terrible disease.”
Some of the UCDSB schools that
performed well this year include:
·
Viscount Alexander Public School raised $3,870.
·
Char-Lan District High School raised $3,980.
·
Athens District High School (ADHS) raised $1,552, more than six times that raised in the 2016 run.
·
Toniata Public School raised
$1,900, more than tripling last year’s total. For exceeding last year’s tally,
Principal Rich Tamblyn will honour a promise to kiss a fish at the October 31
Spirit Day assembly.
