Upper Canada District School Board Releases 2018-2019 Director’s Annual Report to the Community
Posted on 12/06/2019

The 2018-2019 Director’s Annual Report was presented to the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. The report – an annual requirement of the Ministry of Education - details how our system is delivering educational programs in school settings that emphasize a focus on student achievement, well-being and a graduate rate target of 90% by June 2020.

“This report demonstrates how we are advancing student learning by focusing on the conditions in classrooms and schools that ultimately improves instruction. This includes special attention to teaching math and literacy, while providing students with educational experiences that resonate with them and builds a wide range of academic and social skills,” said Director of Education Stephen Sliwa. “As well, the report provides a snapshot about how we are connecting students with the community through experiential learning, local events, and everyday opportunities to contribute to the common good.”

The report highlights the progress and success of our school board and our school district using the four key areas of the UCDSB’s Strategic Plan: collaboration, resources, educational programs and wellness (CREW). These are recognized by the Board of Trustees as “critical success factors” that influence learning, the student experience while at school, the relevancy of school programming, and a commitment to improving each student’s capacity for self-care.

This year’s annual report provides numerous examples of each of these factors, confirming the Board’s extensive commitment throughout this past year to preparing all students for a successful life.
