Vice-Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year at Maple Ridge Senior Public School.

At Maple Ridge, our staff believes that education is about making a difference in the lives of children. It is about helping students learn the knowledge, skills and attitudes which enable them to have choices in their lives and to make those choices well. Parents are partners with our school, all working towards the goal of success for all students, where learning is meaningful, relevant and memorable.

We are committed to working together in partnership with staff, parents and the community to provide the best possible program for each and every student.

Respecting the rights of others is very important at our school. To that effect at the beginning of the new school year the school Code of Conduct and our homework policy have been reviewed by teachers with all students. We would appreciate your support by further discussing these policies with your child that are found at the front of the agenda.
Our school newsletter is an excellent form of communication - a tool that will provide information about our programs and activities. Although we will provide each family with a hard copy of our Monthly Newsletter, you may also access the Newsletter online at: www.ucdsb.on.ca, click on Schools, School Directory, Maple Ridge and click to view Newsletters.

In the past week, we have been encouraging our students to begin the school year with a great attitude and to make an excellent effort to experience progress and success. Making a commitment to do their best and not being afraid to ask for help when needed has been stressed with our students.

We are looking forward to a fantastic learning year for your child at Maple Ridge. Should you ever have any concerns or comments feel free to contact the office. Further, we welcome participation in our school council from all parents.

Your partner in education,

Debra Schouten,

Vice-Principal.
