Principal Message

Welcome to Cambridge Public School – we are a community that cares! Our staff members, students, parents and community are all involved in making sure that at Cambridge everyone achieves success! We believe that our warm, nurturing environment is the perfect place for your child to explore, learn, and develop into an outstanding citizen!

At Cambridge, we are very pleased to offer a variety of programs. Our full day/everyday Junior and Senior Kindergarten program was a huge success this year. Our littlest ones made great strides in their learning journey and we look forward to welcoming our new juniors this year.

Our first year of French Immersion program was also very successful. All of our JK – Grade 2 students had the opportunity to experience French Immersion for half of their school day. The rate at which the students picked up the French vocabulary was truly amazing! This year we will offer French Immersion from JK – Grade 3, as well as offer a full English program. Students will be with their grade peers in English for Language Arts, Math and Science for half of the day, and then spend the other half in either French Immersion or English classes for Social Studies, The Arts , Physical Education and Health. French Immersion Students will also learn French Language Arts, while students in the English program will have 40 minutes of French per day.

As you browse through our website, we invite you to look at our School Success Plan. This is our roadmap to student success. This year we are focussing on Literacy and are striving to have 85% of our students reading at or above grade level. This is an ambitious project that will require the support of our whole community! We encourage you to find ways to lend your support.

We are very pleased to offer a complimentary Healthy Snack Program to all of our students three times a week. This program which is in part, sponsored through parent donations, The Breakfast for Learning Foundation and the Healthy Eating for Better Learning Foundation, gives students the opportunity to enjoy a healthy snack together. It not only builds healthier bodies but fosters the classroom community.

Our hot lunch program will be back this year as well, with some healthier alternatives. We will update families as soon as we have finalized the new menu!

We encourage you to become involved in our school community. You are always welcome in our classrooms - seeing first hand what your child is doing each day is a wonderful experience! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,
Mhairi Rowland
